More fun than galoshes in the rain.
We *love* making open face sandwiches in our family. One peanut-buttered up piece of bread and random toppings ready to be made into edible creations.
I’ll have to dig up other photos of coconut hair, s’more toppings, and flavor combinations at their best. This time though just involved carrots. Katey and Caleb’s idea of a good time.

A year ago August I performed with a group of musicians at the Assisted Living Center in a town nearby. Such a wonderful audience!
It was right before dinner and they were a delightful, engaged audience, willing to participate during the group numbers and so gracious. My friend Cindy and I performed a duet by Devienne as part of the program.
These might be my favorite kind of performances.
Although I’m working on my perfectionistic traits, 16 out of 24 is not bad. In fact, ought to be celebrated! 🙂
Especially considering the 24 hours also included a Pioneer music celebration practice, Jim Bob receiving a new calling, and getting to help at the school for 4 hours with the Bookmobile. Phew! 😉
A huge thank you to all of my wonderful hostesses that I will be working with this fall! I’m excited to help so many families pick out the books that will be perfect for their families and the learning styles within.
One of my favorite parts of the whole challenge was the photo shoot the night before. Comfy chair, willing participants, and beautiful light… couldn’t ask for a deeper breathe before diving in.

Last year I did this challenge and it was so wonderful to help so many families get books before Christmas. After a way busy fall I had a intentionally quiet Usborne December which was perfect for our family. That’s the plan again this year. 🙂 I’m booking dates between now and Thanksgiving – the Fall and Holiday shopping season.
*Live* Facebook events are the perfect option for those who live far from me or if you have a lot of friends in different areas. The live portion usually lasts about an hour and is done later in the evening after usual appointments and little ones’ bedtimes. 🙂 I have two different options – Amazing Race (featuring books by authors around the world) and one about the importance of Reading Aloud. Both talk about the unique features in our books and have a guided & personalized shopping experience. You earn free and discounted books based on the sales of the show.

For the next several posts I will be sharing photos from our family reunion at the beginning of August. Someone once told my mom that they wished they were a Gedeborg for a week. If you were going to pick a week – this is it!
Road Trip on the way to the family reunion. After a little layover 45 minutes from home – 2 new tires & 2 new tie-rods – we were off.
A long drive, but plenty of fun along the way.
Josh kindly shared his roll of tin foil he packed. The kiddos twisted and shaped and created the most unique hats. Meri’s has ears of some sort.

Autumn’s was a sort of ball cap and Jacob’s – a unicorn.

Oh, he’s funny!… and it was a long trip.
At one point in the middle of Montana Josh asked if it would be okay to pull over during sunset and take some photos of the sunflowers on the side of the road. Such a sweet request.

And speaking of Montana – we found this lovely sign at a rest stop in Montana. How I adore random acts of kindness. A little something left for someone anonymous traveling on the same path.
Not sure how long the bird has been painted on the opposite board there – but I love that one too.
Then it got too dark for photos. We stopped for a really yummy frozen lemonade & burgers and traveled on to arrive at our destination at 2 am.
What a day! & what a party to come!

I went with my third option… cleaned the computer & the girl and saved the photos to show my man.
Autumn: I love Katey because she likes to play lots of games and she also likes to go to school a lot.
Meri: I funny! Funn-y! (bouncing on a ball quite excitedly)
Caleb: I love Katey because she plays board games and brushes her teeth.
Jacob: I love Katelyn because of her laugh. A high pitched squeal you can’t get out of your head.
Katey: One time I laughed at myself. At Grandma’s house because I went like this and sticked out my tongue and looked in the doorknob. Ahh, wahhah, ahhhh.
Daddy: Was it a shiny doorknob?
Katey: *head nod* Golden!
Daddy: By her kitchen?
Katey: *head nod*
Daddy: I thought so. That would be the perfect doorknob for that.
Joshua: What I love about Katey is her vocabulary because it is increasing every year.
Mommy: Joshua took mine.
Daddy: Caleb! He shoved his toothbrush up my nose – what a stinker. Caleb, put your toothbrush in your mouth.
Katey: Don’t do that! It has Daddy’s boogies on it.
Andrew: I love about Katey that she always has a big smile.
Joshua: Not when she’s crying.
Andrew: Well, not always.
Mommy: Katey does have a large vocabulary. 🙂 She is very articulate and can express herself well. She tells very detailed stories and with great facial expressions. She crafts the most beautiful things out of napkins and paper and tape and colored pencils. And when we ran out of tape she used stickers and made it work. Very resourceful, crafty and fun.
Autumn: What about toothpicks?
Mommy: Oh yes – and toothpicks.
Katey: And I invented gummy bear suckers!!
Daddy: I love Katey Belle’s beautiful cascading curls.
We love our sparkly, soup-loving, story-reading, sweetheart of a princess.
Like, really loves.
