Photobooth Phun

Years ago I saw a photobooth album on Elsie Flannigan’s site and thought the idea was sooo fun-loving. I have a few photo strips I’ve collected over the years – the one above is from the mall in Twin Falls, Idaho where I used to shop growing up.  The photobooth was not there back in the day, but it was when we visited in 2007.  I have one from Chicago with Jim Bob, and one with my sister at a KMart years ago.  And there are so many more that can be created digitally. 😉

When I saw Linda’s Hybrid Friday Project I knew it could be adapted easily. What a suh-weet tutorial too. So well done! I loved learning not only how to bind a book, but the terminology as well.  Signatures?  Stations?  I feel smarter already.

Little Book of Favourites – Hybrid Project Friday, by In the Making Design

I was a little intimidated at first because I didn’t own all the materials.  So, I’m gonna let you in on a few hacks.  The cover is a cheerio box.  Covered of course, but not fancy or expensive.  And that nice waxed linen thread?  Not sure where to find that, but waxed dental floss works well in a pinch.  See?

And it’s minty fresh.  Now, I can’t guarantee the lasting quality of the “thread”.  It did help me learn the technique though.  A technique I will definitely be revisiting.

Especially in the future when we have fun with this app, Pocketbooth:

And this review is helpful, to get an idea of all the features:

I love all the possibilities for backgrounds with the “photobooth” being so portable. Yes, there might be a whole series of these books.

And for fun, here’s a little peek at the inside back cover of the album above:

I love this patterned paper.  Makes me happy for when the weather is a little warmer.  There is nothing I love more than hanging clothes on the line, with the sun on my back.  mmmmm.

To: You… Love, Me

Remember these photos?:

Prettied up a bit by these designs:

Splendid Fiins: love yooo photo frames
The Queen of Quirk: Love: Me papers and accents
Lauren Grier – Layered Up in You Edges

And this journaling: “One of my favorite things to do on vacation is jump on the bed and be silly with you.”

A perfect valentine-y layout for my love.

p.s.  My layout was featured on Saturday on the DigiLovely blog.  I love seeing someone else’s perspective of my layout.  Especially when it’s so sweet.  🙂

“This layout jumped right out to me because of the fun photo booth-type frames. THEN I looked closer at the photos and just giggled … how FUN are those photos?!? Not only do I love that this darling couple loves to jump on the bed together, but that they capture those fun moments {and amazing splits} so they can look back on it and *smile* This is the ultimate point of our scrapbooking and storytelling and I love it!!”

Thanks Kari!!

p.p.s. He totally wins in the splits contest. 🙂

Pure sweetness…

Sparked by an idea from Martha’s site to use CD sleeves for goodie packaging. A little waffle cookie, some chocolate drizzle, cinnamon hearts… pure sweetness.

I also used these to send a little birthday happiness in the form of peanut butter truffles to a dear neighbor.  Four big truffles filled up the clear window nicely.  Many other possibilities, for both the labels and fillings.  Anything that warrants a little peek-a-boo.  Confetti holders?  Special crayons with customized labels?  Recipe cards?  Good thing I got the 100 pack.  😉

A sweet thing…

I am loving looking through all the photos from our trip.  We used goblets for fry sauce, whipped cream, and chocolate milk, but not orange juice.  We ran around barefoot in the sand dunes at Snow Canyon and *almost* attempted a hike up an extinct volcano.  The trail was a little too snowy and muddy.  We saw pioneer names written with axel grease on the wall of the canyon.  I think from multiple generations as they had the same last name.  There was also a website written in smaller lettering if you looked close – it was dated later than the rest.  😉  I might be posting from this trip for a while – here and there.

One wonderful memory from our trip was such a sweet, thoughtful thing.  Jim Bob told me there would be a fun surprise, but did not give any hints beyond that.  One evening he told me I had to go away for about a half hour.  When I came back he had the condo set up like a spa.  He treated me to a spa-inspired massage with a warm fire and the sound of waves in the background.  It was the epitome of relaxation and indeed a sweet thing.

Mr. January

Happy Birthday to our New Year’s babe.  Mr. January himself.  🙂

A year ago today he was born into our family.  I think the bottom two photos show his personality oh-so-well.  Mostly sugar and a little bit of spice.  That’s our Caleb.

Happy Birthday little mister!  We all adore you.

Bread of Life

A thank you for the teachers of our children at church.

A warm loaf of homemade bread, a bookmark and matching label.

Label reads: “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” -John 6:35  Thank you for helping feed our child! Love the Pipes”

Bookmark: “Come unto me…  eat and drink of the bread and the waters of life freely;”
– Alma 5:35

The labels were quickly changed to make neighbor (and home teaching/visiting teaching) gifts for Christmastime.

And here it is all wrapped up and ready to gift:

Mmmm.  And a nice change of pace from all the sweets of the season.  Not that I mind those either.  😉

A little decor…

The plan is to switch these out each year as those adorable mugs change.

Two done so far.  The photos for all are taken.  I just haven’t sat down long enough to finish up the photoshopping part of it.  The tutorial is so easy and fun to boot.  I think there might be some silhouette valentines in the near future.  😉

Who can resist such kissable profiles?

`

Not me.

Wings tucked in…

Speaking of Katey, she is just adorable lately.  She has a ginormic imagination.  I think she always has, but now she also has the vocabulary to let us know what she is doing.  Beauty.  One of the latest is tucking the wings from her Tinker Bell doll into her clothes and flying around.  She just flits about – so cute!

My featured designer at Jessica Sprague’s site this month is LIV.  She is such a sweetheart.  I adore her creativity too.  I used a lot of her product on this one.  For complete credits go here.

The squiggle glitter line reminds me of a hostess cupcake swirl.  Yum!

One of my favorite parts of the layout is the lilac colored washi tape.  In the description Liv says that Washi is “Japanese masking tapes made of rice paper. I hand-tore each one of these and extracted them with love so that we can bring all that wonderful hand-crafty goodness to our digital creations!”  Beauty.  I love the crumply ones especially.  The semi-opaque ones are my fav, but it’s nice to have those and opaque ones.  I also love all the different sizes and shadowing options on these yummy tapes.  The tapes come in blush color too, so far.  More colors are promised.  😉

It is brand new in the store today!  Because it is new you can get it for 20% off.  However, the whole store is 20% right now for the holiday sale.  Sweet.

My layout is also featured on Jessica Sprague’s home page today.  Fun!

Comically thankful

I placed these comic papers around the tables for Thanksgiving. While the younger crowd dished up their food the older ones drew comics. Then while the adults finished eating, the younger ones that wanted drew a comic as well. Funny, thoughtful, downright silly – all were great fun! …and all made it to the fridge. 😉

*This is a place holder for all the comics I need to find on my SD card and put here – they are amazing.  The anticipation will only make “Bob the Turtle” and “Smiley Man” that much more exciting.  Coming Soon.  I promise.  *POW* *

Drewby-isms

I have been collecting Drewby quotes.  It’s one of my favorite pasttimes.  Here are just a few from the last six months:

How I adore this little guy.  He can be soooooo mischievous.  Full of curiosity and downright fun.

p.s.  I love adding a heart to each of my layouts.  A little “find my love” if you will.  Can you spot the one on this page??  heh.
